Panel swap on a 1960s house — do I have to AFCI the whole thing, or just the circuits I actually touch?

Denise K. replied

Just the circuits you extend or modify — 210.12(D). Untouched existing branch circuits are grandfathered. Note what you replaced and you’re clean.

First solo 200A service upgrade is in the books. Meter released, passed inspection first shot. Lost sleep over this one for two weeks — feels good.

What are you charging for a Level 2 EV charger install right now? 60A circuit, about 40 ft run, panel has room. Want to sanity-check my number before it goes out.

Tyler M. replied

Flat install plus permit here, more if the panel needs a load-calc bump. Don’t give away the drive time — that’s where guys eat it.

Tool tip

PSA: keep a label maker on the truck. Clean panel schedules cut callbacks, and the next tech in that box actually likes you. Cheapest tool I own, best ROI.

Passed a rough-in inspection with zero corrections for the first time all year. Pre-walking the job with the checklist off the Field Reference is paying off.
